Since you don't know much about her, ask her if she has a boyfriend in your email first. If so, respect that and enjoy just being friends. Don't ruin your new friendship by putting her under pressure, or stress.
If she doesn't have a boyfriend, then, just relax and go slow, while becoming her friend first! (before you tell her you like her)
If she is comfortable with emailing for now, then just email for now, remember, don't push!
You might push her away!
Let her get to know you! Just be yourself, like you're talking to your friends!
Simply ask her what her favorite movies are, foods, places, colors, etc. to get to know her better! Good luck!

OK, how's this ... Pick some neutral (meaning non-sex/dating/relationship-related) questions from Yahoo Answers and say, 'Hey look at this wild question, how would you answer it?' . . . . . . . Other than that, you guys need to establish some common interests which can be hard to do over the internet... Do you have a website or blog? You can ask her to let you know what she thinks about it... You can send her a funny news story... Just keep it neutral, don't go too crazy...until you get to know her sense of humor.

Start by telling her about yourself. Who you are, so she can get to know you. Likely, once she knows something, she'll open up to you. If she doesn't, you can just start by asking small questions like what do you think of a teacher if you're still in school, etc. Slowly, you'll both become closer.

You first e-mails should just be small talk. Talk about what is new. How are things going? How was your weekend? Doing anything interesting? Ask her how school is going.
