I am confused. When do you use a heat pad for your injuries? And do you use a cold pack ?

Heat pads are good for muscle pains. Ice packs are good for reducing swelling. Heat increases circulation to the injury; I think it helps to promote healing. Cold will cause the swelling to go down.

Cold is applied to injuries at the onset to reduce the swelling & bruising. Heat can be applied intermittantly with the cold pack to alleviate the pain.

Varies, widely, based on what you are schooled in.

Heat generally helps tight muscles. So does cold. Some favor alternating them.

COLD is for fevers, primarily.

When I had a hernia one doctor said ice pack another said hot pack and my surgeon said they were both stupid.

Hi Kenneth. Use ice with an acute injury or when inflammation is present.
