They typically stick to bigger cities, probably because there are so many different styles and looks there, no one really cares what they look like. In smaller towns they face ridicule. I noticed that in my town (very small, Southern) I rarely see emo or indie kids. But when I go out to bigger towns in my state like Wilmington, Fayetteville, etc, I see tons of them.
