Go with SPCA, or any private trainer. Not to knock the pet stores, as their are some good trainers that work there, but most are not true trainers, and it is easy to obtain a training certification. If you do go with one of the pet stores, go observe a class first, and see what you think.

I know Petsmart presents a dog orientation classification the place you can be taught quite a bit in regards to the trainer and the teacher's expertise. Plus Petsmart has a factor name a puppy starter kit for 20 bucks that has offers for a lot of of their services (free orientation class) and cash saving coupons! Well valued at the $20 investment! Now not certain if Petco offers this but call them. As for websites all you want do is a Google search for puppy coaching. Excellent of good fortune and congrats on being a in charge pet proprietor!

My 6 month old Bichonpoo just completed Puppy Training at Petsmart. It was great! She learned a lot. The trainers were knowledgeable. There were distractions but this served as an advantage because in the real world she is going to have to respond with distractions. I am going to sign her up for more advanced training so she can learn even more. I highly recommend Petsmart training.

I did the beginner classes last year with my Boston Terrier at Petsmart. I'd recommend it. Meet the teacher(s) ahead of time and if you're impressed, sign up. I think a good instructor is the best single part of a good dog class. Good luck :)

I recommend SPCA.
Pet co and pet smart and other pet stores are somewhat lenient in some areas of training.

Don't go to a pet store. There are too many distractions at those places for the puppies to really learn anything.
