Most people call that Tamale Pie, Tamale Bake, or Tamale Casserole, but there's no official answer.

Variations: add canned corn and/or canned chopped chiles to the cornbread or top the cornbread with shredded cheddar cheese.

You make it by following the recipe for tacos on the taco mix package, place it in a casserole dish or large pie pan, and spread the corn bread batter (a box of Jiffy mix is the right size) over the top. Bake as for cornbread.

You may be thinking of Tamale Pie.

I will give you a recipe for taco soup. I always make corn bread to go with this on the side.

--Taco Soup-- Easy and tasty.
1 lb. cooked Ground beef / sauteed with 1 diced onion
then add all into soup pot or crock pot
1 packet of Taco Seasoning
1 large can of red kidney beans (S&W dont mush up/fall apart)
1 cup or a bit more of frozen corn or fresh cut corn off cob
1 can Ro-Tel tomatoe w jalapeno pepper
Add all to soup pot. Fill water half way up. Simmer all for about 30 minutes.

Have on side sour cream, sliced or chopped avocado, and some shredded chedder cheese.

--Corn Bread--
1 box Jiffy corn bread / 'less 1/2 cup' of water as directed
1 small can of creamed corn

Mix well together. Place in glass or metal pan
Sprinkle 1/2 c brown sugar over top and then bake as directed.

Enjoy.

Rachael Ray makes a version of this.. she calls it "Mexican Pizza". Check out www.foodtv.com and click on "30 minute meals" (under shows) and you can look there for the recipe. I've never tried it yet, but it does look yummy!
