I never got a parking ticket before so i dont know what is going on. It says he has my Vin but its a letter and 3 numbers. Arent Vin numbers like 10 digits long?. he also wrote an expiration date, of what? If the police got that vin number from entering a license plate into the system then does that mean that vin is wrong since he wrote my license number wrong?

A parking ticket is not worth ignoring and later getting your car impounded for. It's annoying, aggravating--but it's better to take care of it than let a little thing fester and grow into a really big fine.

Call the court and ask if there are any open violations under your correct tag number. You need to give them 10 days after the ticket was written to get it into the system. If they say no, don't just forget about it. You need to document who told you this, and when. There should be a court date on the ticket. Call the court 3-4 days BEFORE the court date, and ask AGAIN!!! Document again, also. You should be OK. However, I would likely just pay the fine if I did park there after 10. You deserve the ticket.

I think police and government agencies "looking out for its citizens" need to stop enforcing such mundane policies such as parking tickets and minor moving violations and pay more attention to DUI's, stolen cars, and investigations for more serious infractions. My car was stolen and all I ever got was "we found your car & impounded it, suspects got away, end of investigation, have a nice day." I guess it pays to be lazy!
If he/she messed up your vin & plates don't pay the ticket. I've lost all respect for law enforcement.

I would go to the court house or judge or whatever you need to do and get it taken care of, it's on your car. Try and explain that the numbers were off or whatever was wrong with the ticket. But you do need to admit that you were parked illegally. And I know no one wants to pay it, but.....

go to the DMV and ask about vin numbers on the car and ask
about your driving license number and go to the police station.

Check it.

Don't pay for government incompetence.

I ran a red light once, and went back to the intersection to get the pieces of my tail-light to see if I could glue them back together. When I got there, I found my name and number on the paper I wrote it on for the other guy.

Do you think I called him?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

no, just.... just pay the ticket? stop loking for a screw up, first ticket i know even if you didn't tell me it was... it might have an expiration date in the number. but what the hell would expire the car? they might just need a few numbers. either way don't chance it.

It was radioed in and recorded, I wouldn't chance it. What's
a small fine compared to losing your license, going to court,
or being in contempt for not appearing?

If they got the correct plate numbers, they will find you.
