I have been having light to medium yellow stools for awhile now. I have some night sweats but think this is due to menopause. Really can't say I have any other symptoms. I started using milk thistle recently and powedered magnesium this is when I noticed they really started to get light. They aren't always yellow but most of the time they are. Even when I eat dark green leafy vegetables my stools are light. That is when I began to feel some concern. Thank you all for your informative answers and kindness. I have been on steriods twice this year for respirtatory illness could this have anything to do with it?

White or clay colored stools are often a sign of malabsorption. Check into Celiac Disease if this is the case: www.celiac.com and www.glutenfreeforum.com.

Yellow colored stools are often a sign of liver issues.

In either case, see a doctor if this has continued more than a day or two. Do you have any other symptoms accompanying the strange stools?

Yes, poop any other color than brown is abnormal and need to see a doctor. Something could be wrong with your liver/bile because bile what the liver produces which turns the poop the brown color that it is. See a general doctor, but you may need a specialist eventually.

If you have one or two bowel movements that are light in color, it's no big deal. If it continues for a while, it could be a sign that you are having liver problems.
