Any education certificate will give you a tool to get a job. But, it is you skill and ability in knowing, understanding and controlling your enviorment that actually gets you a job. The best school is like itself. Walk into bar after bar asking if you can work behind the bar and start learning. Just an opinion, just go for it and keep asking until someone says yes. How many bars are there in NYC? You only need one to say yes.

Yes they can. Most have job placement as part of the package. The one I went to had a job line you could call to get leads. I am not sure about a good one in NYC, the one i went to was BMI - Bartending Mixology Institute I believe

doesn't necessarily help get a job, but they usually certify you in either TIPS or BARCODE and some schools where I live will help with placement, but most of the places where I live you have to know someone or be a regular to get a job in the bar. It is a fun course and you actually find a whole bunch of different new drinks to make or try.............sorry can't help with schools in NY because I am not from the area. Have fun and good luck!!

Most places (restaurants/ bars) want experience from other places. I know its a catch 22 but bar school teaches you the drinks that's easy, it also takes the personality and efficiency which you can not learn at school. Just try to get your foot in the door anywhere and then move up to better places from there. Good Luck

If you want to be a bartender, bartending school would help.
