My one year old has recently started screaming at the top of his lungs all day long. I want to rip my hair out! I don't know what to do... He points at what he wants but he can't have everything he wants. His one year molars are coming in. And i know that could be a sorce of discomfort but no meds. have worked and can it really last all day? How much longer will it last if it's just a phase? A long with that his behavior has been terrible... he throws things, And when you tell him NO and try to redirect him he thinks it's a game, even when your being as stern as possible. He is very defiant. Has anyone had a problem like this? PLEASE HELP. I don't know what to do!!!

My son (11mo) is at a similar stage. It's important to verbalize what it is they want (if he points to something, tell him what it is a few times before giving it to him).

As for the molars, go back to using teething rings, frozen washcloths or let him chew on his toothbrush. There is nothing wrong with an occasional dose of tylenol or orajel. If you had a headache or a toothache I'm sure you would use those things for yourself.

As for the tossing game.. my oldest son grew out of that pretty quickly. He's just looking for a reaction. Once he learns what it is, he will stop.

my 17month old loves screaming too hehe, i used to just ignore him and he'd stop eventually but my partner couldnt stand listening to it so i had to find other ways to control it, i put him in timeout for a minute to let him know that he wasn't suposed to be screaming and then take him out give him a cuddle and let him play with something, now when he screams which isnt often and most of the time i think it's funny and ignore him lol, but i always redirect him (distract him) and give him an option, no you cant have that but you can have this or this. good luck with getting it under control! and molars are pretty painful too, try plain iceblocks? (just frozen water) or other frozen foods, or 100% juice iceblocks,

He might be screaming because he has not learned to express his feeling since Im sure he can not talk well yet.The defiant thing is a toddler thing.just got to work with him and never ever give in,not once.
