Box is important BUT the more air you move the louder it will be, so use a band pass or ported box, 2 15" woofers with lots of 'excursion'. a 2 channel amp bridged. ooh-wee that'll be loud!! I guarantee!

"Crap about wattage" is most important in this. A bigger box will not make the speakers louder. Loud is developed by power fed to the speaker. Maybe you want more bass emphasis. Boxes can be configfured to do that, and I don't think you want the complex details you need to do that right. You want your speakers to hit hard? Hammers hit hard, not speakers. If the professional looked at what you're working with and decided the best configuration is a sealed box, so that's what you go on. All speakers are not equal and just because a speaker has a large cone doesn't mean it will render deep, thundering bass. The air in the box is what vibrates and if you have a ported box, the air in the box should make a positive wave the same time the front of the speaker does or the waves will cancel. That's why you don't just punch a hole anywhere and expect improvement. There's a lot of science to this and don't you feel your head aching enough already? Go with the professional's recommendation.

No box is magic.

The manufacturer of the subs should have recommendations of type/size of box to use.

Most subs require their own space so for two subs in the same box requires a divider between them.
