So, i had a root canal on a tooth a few month ago and the tooth actually broke and i had to have it pulled on monday. It is not almost FRIDAY and its still sore. Everyone says it should feel better but i'm still in a dull annoying somewhat throbbing pain. I have three stitches now and am supposed to get them out monday. Whats goin on? I want to go back to the dentist and ask for more pain meds but i dont want him to think i'm a "shopper." Will a dentist prescibe a second round of pain meds to someone who is still in pain, but with no signs of infection?

I have been taking 2 advil every 4 hours since i ran out of the pain meds. And rinsing with salt water. Everything i am supposed to do. The tooth came out all in one piece so there is not part of the tooth.

Shame you poor thing!

Yes go back to you dentist and tell him about the pain. If you had stitches it will take a bit longer than 72 hours for your suffering to be over. Dont take any meds without first asking your dentist!

Try warm salt water in the mean time until you go see him/her!

Normally no they will not give you a second round of meds. What you should do is call your dentist and tell him your still in pain, he may or maynot have left a piece of tooth in there or you may have an infection at the root, which needs antibiotics to be treated. I'm sure you have been rinsing with salt water like you should be doing right? You can take advil or aleve it should work temporarly until dentist can see you.

Your body (mouth) has been injured. It takes a different amount of time for each individual to heal. Take 2 Advil's and rinse w/warm salt water. Be careful not to spit hard, you don't want to dislodge the stitches. It will be ok.

i would go ahead and ask your dentist for some pain meds. it is possible you are still in pain. some people are more sensitive to pain than others are. even though you had a root canal done. it is still possible to have discomfort. dont be ashamed to ask for pain killers. im sure he will believe you. take care of yourself please

That sounds pretty bad...It should be better by now, though.
Talk to the Dentist.
