wow that must hurt maybe get a second opinion and a blood test to show the drugs in your system. if you reg doc is trying to tell you no more than maybe he is a masochist and likes to see you in pain. definitely get a 2nd opinion though before your perscription runs out. and ask the next doctor if he has any other suggestions for pain relief.

My surgeon was very super strict about pain meds. He only allowed Hydrocodone after the surgery for about 10 days. He would not allow any meds prior to surgery, I was in horrible pain and he agreed but said to be strong, you can do it. So, does a doctor have to wean you off drugs? No, unless it could cause health issues. Does he have to give you meds because you say you have pain, even if he knows you have pain? No, doctors are getting pretty tight with pain medicine these days because so many people are abusing them, they don't want to get nailed with over prescribing of narcotics/or other drugs. I don't think there is anything else you can do, try to learn how to live with it I guess.

Unfortunately, it is legal for a doctor to do so. What you should do is take your medical records with you to a new doctor, preferably a pain doctor at a pain management clinic. Review your records and surgeries with the new doc. As long as you can prove you have been prescribed the medicines you claim, the new doctor should have no problem picking up where the old doctor left off. I would talk to the new doc about the urine test, as well. Ask him how that can happen, and tell him you would be willing to submit a urine or blood test any time at his request to prove you're taking the medicines as prescribed. As long as you have a track record from the old doctor that the new doctor can prove and follow, you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck.

Why on earth would a doctor order a urine drug test to see if you are taking the medication he prescribed? That's ridiculous! I suggest you find yourself a second opinion, yesterday!

I also agree w/ the above.
