He was bought from another owner from another city and is a adult dog. He keeps wanting to wander off (to explose I suppose). Because our farm is nestled in a semi-surburban area, there are busy roads and other houses to worry about.
I tie him up outside when he wanders off as a punushment, but I though I lost him the other day when he went missing a long way from home for more than a day.
I just want him to stay around our house like previous dogs we have had.

Make sure he's neutered. Dogs will wonder when they aren't.

Try getting a fence to keep him in , they have kennel cages also for dogs.

Keep a collar, with a contact phone if he happens to wonder away.

Dogs should not be allowed to wander around off leash. Almost every single day I shadowed with a rural vet, someone brought in at least one dog who had gotten hit by a car because they thought living on a farm meant that you can let your dogs run free. WRONG. Do not tie out a dog. It is cruel and a lawsuit waiting to happen if the dog gets frustrated and bites someone who wanders into the yard. Supervision with a fence is the only way. And invisible fences often don't work. I work with the local shelter and strays come in all the time with the invisible fencing collars on as a testament to how badly they work.

It is nearly impossible to keep a wanderer at home. I finally invested in an invisible fence which worked like a charm. It did not take too much work to install and went around my whole place. My wandering dog took no time at all to learn her boundaries and I never worried about her again. You can buy it from Northern Tool and Supply as well as several other companies online.

I would advise also investing in a larger collar than the one that comes with the package. The larger collar has a bigger shocker and patches more of a punch...

As another boxer owner, i'd say keep him tied up or fenced in or whatever. My 2 yo boxer is a great listener, but I wouldnt trust him for a second if he wanted to go after a squirrel or something. Hes never run off the property because I havent given him the chance. Boxers can be very set in their ways. (one of their few shortcomings)

I have had this problem with new dogs.
The method I use I always keep the dog restrained and allow no roaming.
First you need to find out the places you want him to be and the places you don't want him to go.
He will eventually accept the areas you allow him to go as his territory.
Never let him run free this is how dogs run away get stolen or hit by cars.
Check and see what you animal ordinance law is for your area I'm sure it is against the law for him to be allowed to roam.
Never leave him unattended.
It may help if you neuter him it will be less temptation for him to run away if you do.
Hope this helps

It wouldnt injury to have the vet verify her, to be certain some thing isn't incorrect. I even have heard of canines with thyroid situations or suggestions tumors by surprise springing up aggressive habit. whether you get a PO field, the mailman will nonetheless be walking down your street delivering your pals mail, so there's a threat she would be waiting to work out him. If she is prepared to wade via a window to get to him, then she would be waiting to would desire to be crated or restrained in some incorrect way for the period of the time he's around. you will desire to have the potential to limit her to a room that would not face the line. i doubt that he did something to her - she in simple terms senses some thing she doesnt like (like perhaps concern). I had a Rottweiler who in basic terms disliked the united statesguy. anyone else would desire to come appropriate as much as the abode without subject, yet whilst he heard the united statestruck coming down the line, his suggestions-set replaced. We have been given him from the pound, and we joked that the guy who surrendered him would desire to have labored for UPS. :o) in case you cant locate the money for a behaviorist, and you cant crate her for the period of the day, i might say your in basic terms option is to flow away her at your sisters farm. Im specific the mail provider can not substitute agencies in simple terms via fact your canines doesnt like him.

First of all, you DO NOT tie a Boxer, or any other dog outside. Secondly, you fence a large of the yard so that he can go out, unattended, if you must, and not be able to "wander off". If you don't keep him in a large, fenced area that he can not get out of, you are going to have a DEAD DOG.!!!!!
