Because the attention is unwanted and you know you have no intention of fulfilling his desires. The thing to do is say so clearly, and you won't have to be uncomfortable anymore because the unsaid will be said.

I get uncomfortable becuase I know what its like to like someone who does't like you back and wish more then any, any, anything that they would jsut go out with you and I feel so, so, so guilty about doing it to another person.
But as a friend told me it wouldn't be fair to them if you went out with them out of obligaiton or guilt because it wouldn't really be what they wanted.
I just make sure I do not lead them on in any way, stya very casual and hint that I'm not interested so they maybe they'll figure it out and start the process of forgetting about me without the awkward conforntation and rejection.
Best of luck

Why? Because you don't feel the same way. He's your friend and now you are in a position of having to reject him and hurt his feelings...of course that's uncomfortable!
Let him know asap you don't share his feelings (but do it gently) so he doesn't feel led on and you don't have to live with being uncomfortable any longer than necessary...
Hopefully you two will still be able to be friends...make sure he knows that is your desire (if it is)...

If you accepted the valenting present, even though there were no romantic feelings on your part, I would say that you're feeling his unwanted "flow of affinity" (which you're trying resist) and are uncomfortable because you haven't made it clear to him that that's not where you're at.
Find an opportune moment, open a hailing frequency and let him know for sure how you feel.
Once it's clear, the issue should be settled (sez me).

because you dont feel the same way, it means that everything feels like there is a hidden agenda. that's how i always feel. like if a guy is into me and we go for dinner, does that mean he's gonna make a move? i start to worry that he might read things into everything and i back away. i would tell him that you like him, but not in that way. i hope that the uncomfortable feeling goes away, if not, have some space away from him for a while.

Because u know they like u and u probably feel uncomfortable around them and it wont be the same when u meet that person or talk to them as it used to be because u know that they like u. Also because when someone likes u they probably act differently around. But if u pretend that u dont now and act natural everything will be ok.

You feel uncomfortable becasue he`s very close to you. When you found out that someone close to you likes you, you see them as different and feel really incomfortable. If you like him it`s alright to feel that way, but if you don`t tell him politely that you don`t like him

Because it has added anothyer dimension to your otherwise comfortable relationship. Be careful though. If and when you decide to tell him that you don't feel the same way, be gentle and make sure to offer to continue your friendship as it was before.

because he's trying to court you and you have no interest so now there's this kind of pressure between you two that he's introduced because it's now known that he likes you and wants to date you. or "date you" as it were.
