I have seen many types, colors and brands of cue chalk. What makes one better than the other?

Thanks

It's going to be subjective, but myself and most people that I know prefer Master chalk by Tweeten. Eightbraker will back me up on this one. The coarseness, consistency, durability, etc. make it superior. It has less tendency to crumble and it gives off a more uniform amount of chalk. Of course, any brand of chalk will do the job, but only one can be the best. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

Cue Chalk

This is very subjective, Masters chalk is the best affordable chalk out there... however, there are several companies that have come out with performance chalks lately and some of them have a slightly better play. For casual every day play, Masters chalk is great, I use it. Blue Diamond, Triangle, and Kamui are regular staples in pool rooms I've played in too, but personally unless you're playing for a living, I don't think you'll notice much of a difference because it's so slight it makes miniscule difference to a casual or even league level player.

Straight shooter deserves the credit for this one. Masters is by far the best pool cue chalk that you can buy. I've had to use other brands in the past and didn't care for any of them. Now I always carry a cube of masters in my case. You just can't beat it!

Obviously this is somewhat subjective...but many pool halls use Masters and I have for years. It doesn't "crumble" when you chalk your stick and allows you to put a nice even coat on the tip before each shot. Some are so chalky they leave almost a clump. I strongly recommend Masters

I like DRY Master or tweetens Green but all chalk is OK if kept dry (place your chalk on computer monitor or heater)
You should not change chalk, use 1 type only throw it out when it is worn out.
