I would really appreciate an opionion on this issue.?

Lemme start off by saying that got out of a relationship two weeks ago. I dumped her- she's now with someone, either way, it's over.
I'm an 18yr old senior in highschool. There is a 15 year old freshman who's been flirting a lot with me and has admitted to liking me. Although I'm eighteen, my parents are very concerned about the issues of statutory rape, etc. I'm a very nice guy, I would never hurt a girl, EVER, and I guess I'm just wondering how it is that I could prove to them that this is merely a highschool dating thing. I am aware she's young- but I'm also aware that I would never, EVER take advantage of that. So my basic question is what should I say to my parents, etc, to make them get off my case?
(Also, HER mom is willing to consider it, based on what she knows about me. If that doesn't say something for my character, I don't know what would.)

Hey there--Well first, I would look up the laws for statutory rape...I'm not sure if maybe in some states even if the girl DOESN'T press charges you might still get in trouble...Or if you ever do something to piss her mom off. There is a website I'll give you in the sources...I guess only 6 states actually have AGE limitations, the rest are like age differentials...Like say TX it's legal within 3 yrs of each other...If you were 18 and she was 15 that would be legal.

Anyway, I hope that you trust the girl (and she trusts you) long before you 2 have sex. And I hope that she is mature enough that in the case u 2 break up and she's not happy about it, she won't run to the cops and get you locked up..

I mean, I know you're probably not getting into this thinking about getting in her pants, but if the legal age is 18 in your state, and you guys actually stay together for a while, LEGALLY it will be 3 years before you can have sex and not get into trouble.

I'm sure you are a great guy, and I'm sure your parents believe you.....I'm sure they just don't want you to get sent off to jail for some whacko getting mad you dumped her. I'm a girl...Girls do crazy things when they don't want to break up, lol. And people are USUALLY not who they appear to be......

But anyway, I can't find the site I was thinking about, I found one a long time ago with all the ages for all the states, but I'm sure if you type like "statutory rape ages in (your state)" you wll get some answers.
