How did it go? Were you happy with your purchase? I am trying to find some decent but not too expensive furniture. I know there was an article in the Washington Post today about this today. What has your experience been?

Craigslist is a great community. I got a rototiller on there, but I have sold and given many things away.
I gave away a perfectly good couch, just because we got a new one.
Given away an antique sewing machine/table.
Just try the furniture out and inspect it for stains, scratches and STRUCTURAL STABILITY!

I think that will largely depend on who's selling the item you want. We had to get rid of our bike last year and we sold it at craigslist. I haven't heard from the person who bought it so he must have been satisfied. Just make sure you check the condition of the item first before you buy it. Also scan the listings for scammers...

i've had good luck with craigslist. i got an upholstered headboard, pottery barn style for $75, curtains for $5. just use some caution. if you're a woman, don't go to someone's house alone, etc. but you can find some pretty good deals! it's like a big garage sale but you can look online before you go in person!

As an interior decorator, for modest budget, I use craigslist a lot even for myself and I've very lucky, best deal ever 2 ikea klippan sofas in good condition for 100$.
Be careful though.

I've never heard anything bad about them. I've never actually dealt with them before but I have been talking with someone the past couple of days who posted a treadmill. I'll be going this weekend to look at it if they don't sell it before then. Good luck!

craigslist is just an online classifieds page writ large. excercise the same caution you would if you were buying something out of the newspaper classifieds. deal locally, if the person selling the item seems disreputable, don't buy it, and dont buy it if you think it is stolen. in a nutshell, caveat emptor.

Yes all the time..I find alot of great furniture for great deals in my area..all the time. I have never had a problem.
I have had more issues with ebay all the time..but craigslist.com..never

I use craigslist alot.To buy and sell items.I have had very good luck. Just make sure you pay attention.
