believe in it. Sort of like how I would like to have a robot to do all of my chores and go to work for me, but I don't believe such a robot exists.. I would like to have a God to watch over me, and my family.. And to one day be reunited with family.. If a God did exist, why can he not make entrance to heaven a little bit easier for us non believers.. We are not like on/off switches when it comes to faith. Is it not cruel to allow someone to go on a one way trip to hell because they have a hard time with blind faith?

connie,
It is not easy when you don't believe in him. Do you think I have not tried in the past. I have prayed, and I have gone to church.

The only way I could believe completely is if I shut off portions of my mind. I do not want to sound rude, I respect that you have faith but the only way I could believe in a God is if I stopped questioning the Bible, and him. That is not something I can do. I have tried to stop thinking about it but it did not work. My mind always is inquiring, it is like a black hole, sucking in everything it can. It has an insatiable thirst for knowledge.

People will say that I must believe a little bit, but they are mistaken. Who would not want to go to heaven, and be loved by a perfect father. I can not think of anyone who would not wish to be. The problem is that I just can not believe in something for the sake of believing in it. That must sound alien to you, but I don't know how else to explain it.

Could you join the Rotary Club if you didn't pay the dues? Would they let you stay if you didn't follow the by-laws? Are they considered cruel if they reject a person for not following their rules? Of course not!

If that is the case with earthly groups, why would you expect differently from the heavenly one?

You also mischaracterize the faith. It is not a blind faith, as you have imagined. It is a very reasonable faith, backed up by verified historical documents...eyewitness testimonies, if you will. The only reason you disbelieve is because you choose to reject the very real evidence.

UPDATE: You claim that you can't shut off the questioning of the Bible. Believe it or not, God welcomes that. But, if your questioning is one based on disbelief, rather than seeking Truth, then you will remain as you are. God rewards those who seek after knowledge of Him.

Consider these men, who were atheists or agnostics:

Josh McDowell was a professor who set out to debunk Christianity. After doing 700 hours of research, he concluded that the evidence demanded a verdict. He became a Christian, and then penned a book with the title, "Evidence that Demands a Verdict."

Simon Greenleaf was a lawyer, and a founder of the Harvard Law School. He set out to evaluate the biblical accounts hoping to refute their claims. After exhaustive research, he determined that the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ was overwhelming, and would stand scrutiny in a court of law.

How much easier could it have been than just to accept a free gift from God??? God doesn't even require you to earn your way, which would depend on your behavior only. No, instead He gave up His own Son, Jesus Christ to be tortured, crucified and died for you to go to Heaven!!! You are right in that if you don't even believe in God, Jesus, salvation, then you will not go to heaven. To tell you you must believe isn't enough for you, then something is getting between you and God. Yep, it's that deceiver Satan who wants to take as many as he can to hell with him--read his final doom in Revelation20:10. PRAY for the gift of faith (that too is free). The Lord will open your heart, mind + eyes to the truth. You must ask to receive, says the Lord. Also, you do have the Lord watching over you + your family. But, at the same time you are missing a relationship with Jesus and not even realizing all the miracles, viewed by you as coicidences. Ask Jesus into your heart and you'll know and feel all the proof that the unsaved world thinks they need in your relationship with Jesus. This trip to hell you mention, was just taking the wrong path in the road all because the traveler didn't ask Jesus for directions and got lost!!

Try having a Bible study with Jehovah's Witnesses. Be respectful and explain your position and give it a chance to sink in. Most of the religions expect blind faith. But God says to use your power of reason. Hell is not the place you think it is and heaven is not the goal for most men.

=)

If you don't believe in it (heaven in your context), why even bother to ponder on this issue?

You see... from what I know... other religions makes it very different to go to 'heaven' or achieve a 'status'. You have to do this and do that and in some cases, you have to die for it. Due to my limited knowledge in them, I will not dwell on them.

In Christianity, God has made it so easy by sending Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross that He is the way and the only way. All we ever need to do is believe. How easy can it be? You don't have to be Mr./Mrs/Miss/Dr./whatever Perfect. Just believe that after acepting Christ in your life, you are a New Creation and is now in Him and you are now Mr./Mrs/Miss/Dr./whatever Perfect in God's eye. How easy can it be?

You can believe. We all can believe. It just what you believe in. For example. When you choose to sit on a chair, do you ever ponder if the chair is a chair? If the chair will break? If the chair is an illusion? Nope. You just sit on it and put your XXX pounds load onto the chair and basically...... you are operating in faith. Only difference is that your faith is that the chair will do what it is suppose to do, rather than faith in God. Faith is not blind. Faith is the ability to see where the natural eyes cannot see. =) Have a nice day.

You're only thinking of faith in one view though. It sounds like to me you're willing to accept a faith, but aren't looking. Not all views are what christians think they are. Some religions it doesn't take as much to get into "heaven" as others. You should do some research and look into a faith you'd like.

If you can't believe in God, or don't why would you want to spend eternity with him? Give faith a chance, God has already prooved his being through the creation of the earth. Through the creation of you! Try it, go to church on sunday. God Bless!

How are you so sure that non-believers will go to hell? the difference between believers and non believers ,in my opinion, is that when believers die, they are happy deep down inside because they will meet the source of eternal love, but when non-believers die, its still the same thing, but with lower intensity. a book that will help you a lot is Embraced by the light written by Betty Jean Eadie. It will answer most of the questions that you might have.

You CAN go to Heaven.

The ONLY WAY to Heaven--the BIBLE says--is through Jesus Christ.
You need to KNOW that you are s sinner.
You NEED to believe that He died on the cross for our sins, and rose on the third day.
Andthat he can forgive you of EVERY sin you've EVER, EVER, EVER committed.
You Need to be ready to turn away from sin and let Jesus into your heart.

He WILL come into your heart and MAKE you a brand new person in your HEART!
You will be soooo happy that you will want EVERYone to KNOW that Jesus is in your heat!

JUST ASK!!

It took me 40 years to find my faith. Be patient and give it a chance. Read Romans in the Bible for some clarifications.
