Ok, if a person's arm goes numb...and they can't breath because they're hyperventilating...and they think they're having a heart attack but they go to the doc and it's not a heart attack but the hyperventilating was caused by a diet pill...what caused the arm to go numb and stay numb?

i don't know but it could be a reaction to the diet pill and you might want to consult the doctor because that could cause lots of other problems

Hyperventilating causes the CO2 level in the blood to go low. This causes a shift in pH and calcium levels. Calcium is critical in nerve and muscle conduction. Muscle contraction and numbness are common with hyperventilation. They go away soon after teh episode is over. Stimulants like diet pills and caffeine can trigger the anxiety reaction (hyperventilation).

guessing here:
also the pill?
pressure on the arm?
stress?

in heat attack the arm doesn't go numb as far as I know. it has shooting pains- more like streams going through it...

did you ask your doctor about it while you were there? call and ask...

It sounds like blood was being blocked from flowing into the arm for some reason.

Go to another doctor. No one should take those symptoms lightly, and shame on the doc who sent this person home!

You should see a neurologist. Maybe they can perform an EMG to check for a pinched nerve.
