He needs to drink a lot of fluids to help the stone pass and he should see a dr. X-rays or a special test called an IVP can be done to see where the stone is at in his urinary tract. If the stone doesn't pass on its own he will have to have it removed. Lithotripsy is a procedure commonly done to remove kidney stones. The patient is sedated for a few minutes and the stone is broken into little pieces using sound waves. If the stone gets stuck he could get a UTI.

Go to the doctor or ER now. I wouldn't want to go through that kind of pain without an M.D. around!! They can bust up the stones, too.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

he can do 2 things ..im a cat scan tech...so i see alot of this...he can either drink alot of fluid...2 liters of water and hope to pass the stone which will hurt like hell or he can go to the emergency room and they will give him sedation enough to loosen the ureters so the stone will hopefully pass,, i highly recomend the 2nd option...stones are one of the worse pains you can have...i had 2 stones 2 years ago.
good luck!

Tell him to go to his doctor. Maybe he can give him a script for pain meds until it passes.

Has he gone to a doctor? If not, I definitely suggest that. They should be giving him something for pain if he told them about it.
