Aw, hon, God doesn't hate you! If the dog ran out at the last second, you wouldn't have been able to do anything. And, you tried to stop. It was an accident, plain and simple.
A friend and I were coming home late one night when I was in high school, and a mom raccoon and 4 babies ran out in front of my car. I tried to stop, but killed one of the babies. I felt so awful! And, I worked at an animal clinic! All I could do was get the poor little thing off the road, which I did, using my old jacket.
If you know the owners, or met them at the vet's, you could send them some flowers and an apology. I know it might sound silly over a dog, but the owners would appreciate it. I don't think they would blame you. They should have kept him/her on a leash, or fenced in the backyard. But, things do happen. It's not your fault.
Hope your dad's feeling better after his o/p procedure!

Trust me when I say that God did NOT do this to you and he absolutely doesn't hate you for it either. I sometimes think that dogs that walk out into oncoming traffic actually WANT to be hit. Come on, they know what will happen if they do it. I have hit a lot of dogs in my life and EVERY time I tried NOT TO. Some of them got up and walked away like nothing happened and others met their maker. Either way, would you have rather risked killing yourself and/or your father? I hope not. It sounds like he really needs you at this time, so if you had wrecked and killed yourself, how do you think he would have felt? And what if you had wrecked and killed him instead of you? All that for an animal who is smart enough to stay out of the road but chooses to test fate everyday. Just forgive yourself because God already has.

God does not hate anyone. Have you considered going to see a therapist? I'm not saying you are 'crazy' but they can give you tools that you can use to handle lifes situations. Life is extremely tough, you just have to learn how to roll with the punches and keep on going. I've been around a long time and have experienced many terrible things. i was phsically and sexually abused as a chil and then when I was in my twenties I had a one year old die of cancer, an abusive spouse, then a cheating spouse , i was mugged and on and on and on. That is just how life is. When these things happen I lay in bed at night and talk quietly to God, then I hold my hand up towards Heaven and hold my Lord's hand. If you don't have a strong faith...then find one. Any thing can be questioned to death and trying to reason out everything in the Bible will just cause you to abandon faith. Just love God with all your hear & soul, lean on him when you need to and be the person that he put you on earth to be.. If someone has stolen your self esteem then you just stand up and say no way! I am a good and worthy person and my Father is the King!

terrible feeling.. I can relate.. I did the same thing once and cried for the whole day.
But using your logic.. God must really hate the people that allowed this to happen because they were not taking care of their dog.
But if that dog had cancer, or was being hunted down by the d.catcher to be euthanized (sp)
When our dog was old and in a lot of pain.. we finally had to face facts.. it was time. My then 8 year old daughter was determined to go to the vet's office with Muffin.. I couldn't bear it, but we had explained it all to her.
About an hour later, our vet brought her home.. she wasn't upset.. she told us that she had petted Muffin while Dr. John had given her a shot that would make her go to sleep and while she was sleeping her heart would stop.. while Muffin was sleeping she said a prayer.. She asked her grandpa (already in heaven, if he could find God, and maybe between the 2 of them they could find Muffin so she would have someone to play with.
And the whole time they had been gone I had been praying....... WHY hadn't I let her out in the front yard.. if someone would have hit her.. it would have been so much easier on us.. especially me.
Don't hate yourself.. The dog is in heaven and is probably with Muffin.

It wasn't your fault... bad things CAN happen to good people. Don't worry and don't blame yourself! God loves you no matter what and he knows everything including whats in your heart right now... that you didn't mean to kill the dog. Pray for emotional healing and comfort.... he will guide you through this. I am very sure that many people have accidentally killed innocent animals but that doesn't mean the world will end... just think... that animal is in heaven now and God does not blame you for any of this. Hope you feel better and I just want to let you know that you don't have to feel guilty... things just happen.
Take care,
xoxo Bekki xoxo

God does not hate you. God loves everyone. You are a really good person to be concerned for the dog. It wasn't your fault. It should have been on a leash. Everything has a time to be born and a time to die. It was the dog's time. I had a student once who jumped in the road to save his dog. He saved it, but he was killed instead. 12 years old. At least you are not dealing with that as well. God bless and good luck.

God doesn't hate anybody. I would have hated to go through what happened to you, but it could have been a lot worse. There must be millions of people worse off than you are.
I had a cat and I kept him in the house. I got married and my wife talked me into letting him outside sometimes. He got killed, hit by a car. I couldn't stand it. I had this really crappy job; I called in sick but they made me come in anyway. I cried about it for months and even had bad dreams about it, I felt so guilty about putting him outside. But it gradually became easier to deal with; that was maybe ten years ago. I still miss my cat but I'm able to deal with it now. By the way, I have been treated for depression for about 20 years; losing my cat like that was terrible but it didn't kill me.

It's unfortunate for the dog, believe me I love animals. But the bottom line is that you were not alone in that car and if you would of wrecked you could have killed yourself and your father.

You're being too hard on yourself. God doesn't hate you. You only made a mistake. Don't dwell on it. It will be okay. Things like this will happen again, and you have to learn to live your life without the fear of small things like this. It seems big now, but next week, there will be something else to take your mind off of it.
