when Chinese, Irish, European immigrant came in around 1890-1943 did they experience better life in America?

When they come here, from where they are, supposedly they had it worse there. My grand parents were immigrants too. They swore it was worse there than here, that's all I have to go by since I haven't been "there"

Anybody fleeing a war torn country would indeed have a better life just from knowing they want be shot at or step on a land mind . They arrived here it was calmer and more at peace
