Charity comes from the heart. If it's an obligation, you are doing it wrong.

I think charity is an obligation to God, in that one should give of themselves to others in the interest of the betterment of mankind. I do not believe charity is giving money to a church. Good works and kindness I feel are the best of coins. Tithing is archaic and unnecessary.

There are many fruits of the spirit. Fruits of the spirit come from Christ who lives within, but we must let Him bear fruit from us.

For example, if 10% of the average $907 that Americans spent on Christmas gifts went to children in need, 42 million children could be helped for an entire year according to statistics provided to me during an interview with World Vision.

This year, I conducted an experiment, and asked for donations to World Vision and Heifer.org instead of Christmas gifts. Many folks simply chose to give me gifts anyway, but many did make donations instead, resulting in $137 going to these charities.

I also have a website where I sell art to support these two fine Christian organizations. The next time you need art for your walls, please consider my website. My personal favorite of my own work is Stir the Groove3. Recently I have had several new artists donate to this cause also If you know of artists who might wish to join this charity model, please send them my way.

I don't view it an obligation. I just love to give. Wish I had more to give though.

That is between you and your God.

Charity can take many forms besides just giving money away. Give of yourself and see how good it feels.

I don't give as much as I should but I'm working on it.
