I am a Dominican male and will try to answer this question assuming that this is true. I will also answer assuming that Dominican men do not exclusively like Mexican women, but may also like Venezuelan, Porto-Rican, Canadian, etc.
In the case of Mexican women is that prior to Venezuelan T.V. we had a strong influence of the Mexican role models both in songs and films in a social context where Mexican women were relevantly exotic and not usually seen; unknown and yet to be discovered or conquered. There may also be some machismo associated with all of this.
