I am curious, as I keep reading that atheists/agnostics...are such a minority in our country, but I know plenty of them.

(I am an atheist, by the way).

Dave - clearly we non-believers are much funnier, too.

agnobles - was there any kind of ceremony or special clothing you had to wear? i agree - i don't know if i am exactly "atheist", i just know that none of us know what is going on and "god", as described, does not exist.

I don't accept any religion, and you are not alone.

According to research done in 2004, approximately 36 million Americans do not believe in (or are undecided about the existence of) a God. It is fairly safe to say that about 10% of the US population are Atheists.

me, I am agnostic

I recently converted from atheism because I realized that atheism was too a religion, just one suggesting that there is no god.

I figured that, if god does exist, then by saying I don't know (thus being agnostic), I will be safer if I die.

If he does not exist then it really does not make any difference.

i have a much more detailed and profound answer but I am too lazy to type it all

By The Way "DanTheCanMan" --- the fact that the dollar bill says in god we trust just proves that the 99% of americans that believe in god (actually it is only 76%) only believe it because they were taught that way. us non-religious people are much more "OBJECTIVE" than you will ever be

Even tho I am a Born Again Baptist woman. I am not a part of any religion. I only need a personal relationship with the Lord and serve him and Go to Church and fellowship with believers because The Bible tells us to do so.

I don't. I call myself agnostic.
I think we are a minority, but it's so easy to build a network online these days (i.e. via Y!A) to find others of similar ilk that it can seem like we are everywhere - when in fact we are only just a small, well-connected group. Yay for the internet :)

There are actually just 7 of us in the world but we post under a variety of screen names to scare the Christians.

I am an atheist as well. I am guessing that less than 10% of the US is atheist (not counting little babies).

many many people. We just choose to stay quiet because religious folks get all fired up when disscussion comes up. Id argue but really couldn't care about religion enough to argue over it.
