If you really do have that high a threshold to pain then I envy you, because I am in pain almost every day. You are lucky, very lucky, from my point of view.

There is actually something called SEMA which is a disease that causes you to not have pain receptors or dulls the receptors. It was on HOUSE last Tuesday. You can still feel senses and pressure, but no pain. Those nerves could just be dull and not sensative to these things. It's actually really interestin, you should do some research on it.

I don't think you're wrong to feel this way. In a perfect world, there would be no "religion," but only the "hope and love for humanity" that you speak of. Since we don't live in a perfect world, religious holidays have become merely cultural celebrations to SOME that can separate one religious group from another. I'm glad to know that you don't see things this way.

it could either be a very rare genetic thing where you don't feel pain, in which case s a uge disadvantage. pain helps you, beleive it or not. if you fall out of a tree and break your leg but dont know because you can feel it, walking could cause alot of damage to your leg, not to mention interneal bleeding, infections, etc.
it could also be adrenaline. adrenaline usually takes some pain away and makes you stronger.
you should go see a doctor and ask them, as i am just a kid.

i have heard of kids like that i think it was a pair of twins or brothers that i read about years ago and they used to rough house so bad and not feel pain [ i wonder if they grew up to be wrestlers? ahahhha!] but seriously i also read a long time ago about a slave that was immune to fire and when he was young he was always starved so he would sneak into the kitchen and pluck out food from the stove and eat it while it was still burning hot and i think when he grew up he became a blacksmith and he would hold the hot iron with out thongs and he could put burning coals into his mouth!

You could have that disease where you cant feel pain, or cry, or sweat. You should go to the doctor and have that checked out. I saw an episode of House and this girl had... I think it was called SEPA or something. It's really dangerous

Shock can stop the human body from feeling the pain. Make sure you are applying Polysporin and keeping the wound clean.

Probably a normal physiological response. At high levels of pain, our bodies essentially go into shock. You may also have a fairly high tolerance for pain.

Good for you, by the way, for protecting your cousin.
