I LOVE EBAY.... and I'm guilty of this at least once or twice I'm sure..... but MY own personal reason would be that I either "just spotted it" on ebay, and had never seen one before, thought it was cool, and PAID WAY TOO MUCH FOR IT!!!! Then found out later how cheap it is in stores..... WOOPS!
OR
I was just too LAZY to go out and research prices before I bid. Sometimes I just decide I'm tired of messing with it, and the little bit of extra $$ is worth being done lookin for it...... and then it comes straight to my mailbox!
So.... overall..... from my own experience..... LOL....... the top two reasons would be:
1: PURE STUPIDITY
2: PURE LAZY
.........at least I'm honest! Ha! Ha!

I've seen that happen, and I have three theories: 1. The person or persons are unaware of the retail prices, or 2. The item goes for a higher retail in their area, or 3. The buyer(s) get carried away with bidding and get the "have to win" mentality.

Probably they become too competitive. They get caught up on winning, and don't really realize what they are doing. As long as they win the feel like they have beaten somebody. They feel they have achieved something good.
Some research has even shown an endorphin high right after shopping.... that soon wears off they they will finally figure out that they overpaid. To bad that occurs after the other person has your money.
