Ok. Well the hair salons around where I live are pretty expensive. 40$ to me sounds pretty dang good. I usually end up spending like 70-100 because i get my high lights and my trim with a wash & blowdry. I guess it depends on what you are doing. But for me, thats a pretty good price. I only get my hair done twice a year pretty much. So if you are doing something with your hair and its something that you REALLY want and it can be PRICY then make sure its something that you know you can live with for a while or that you would really like to get. Trust me, if you think it through, it can be worth the 40$. That's how I see it. The sky's the limit.

$40 is about right. I personally get my hair dyed and cut for $180 at a expensive hair salon. $40 is just about right for a stylish haircut.

...that's depending on what your getting done...if you have saw the person's work and even better the exact style you want - you know they can definitely do then...just like a nice pair of shoes or jeans, you may have to kick out the money for the quality cut you desire...I stress again especially if you have saw their work and KNOW they can do what you want...
...if you feel that you can go to say The Hair Cuttery and get the same thing or something just as nice for a fraction of the price then...do that...but if it isn't what you expect...is a crappy cut that will take months to grow out worth 40 bucks?...
...I don't get my hair done professionally too often but when I do, it does cost a pretty penny...

haircuts these days for girls cost a lot, so $40 is like the average price.

I think $40 is too much for a hair cut. But these days that's the price. Hopefully it includes wash and dry.

Is the hairdresser someone who can do the cut you want? That's what counts. My old stylist charged me $55 but could never get it quite the way I wanted it. Now, I go to someone who gets it right every time for around $20

It sound horrible. If that's the cost, I better go out there feeling like I'm a super model.

That's $40 more than I am willing to pay. (I cut my own hair.)
