why are archaeological finds confirming not proving but confirming stories in the Bible not believable but archaeological finds of Lucy (the missing link) proof of evolution . . . . .Lucy doesn't exist by the way. The skull wasn't from the same site where the bones were. This can be proven.

Just curious, these findings aren't as publicized and notice I said confirm and accuracy.

Not fact or proof like non believers claim about their findings.

AGAIN I NEVER USED THE WORD PROOF OR PROVES.

2007-02-15 11:48:46 · update #5

I apologize, I did say proof. I didn't finish the sentence, There is proof out there, this just helps confirm the Bible. That is the only point. I give confirmation to and some legitamicy to the Holy Word and it is dismissed. Funny how that works

I have heard of many of these but not all. But I agree that there is more proof that the Bible is true than exists for proving evolution.
To those who are looking to prove God exists, I don't think God "NEEDS" humans to prove His existence. But showing that the Bible is true and accurate is helpful to the Great Commission.

God Bless

Look that's really cool and everything but most of it is Old Testament. Not many people deny that the old stories of the Old Testament have some validity. Okay, so when the story of Abraham was written, they used a real town as his birthplace, big deal. You didn't actually provide any credentials for your list and your list is clearly copied from some unknown source. Code of Hammurabi (its a "b" btw, just so you know for the next time you copy) is seen as a milestone in laws, not a Bible prover. I suppose its all how you interpret the "evidence". But everything you have listed is more or less proving known history and not really the absolute validity of the bible.

I hope my answer wasn't too long, I read through your question so hopefully you can read my answer. Please don't ignore it because it didn't agree with your opinions 100%, i actually responded with a thoughtful answer.

Historical findings does not prove the Bible true. They have also discovered Egypt Israel the red sea Jerusalem Bethlehem Rome and many other things mentioned in the Holy Bible that doesn't prove the Bible true. Have they proof of Joshua making the Sun stand still or Moses getting water out of a rock or anyone bringing anyone back to life. Prove one miracle only one. Then get back to me.

This is very silly.

I don't think that anybody is claiming that the Bible
is entirely false or that it contains nothing of any
spiritual or moral value.

The question is whether it is the word of God and
or if it is an absolutist document (always right).

And there are tons of inconsistancies in the Bible
and things that directly conflict with modern
scientific thought - and guess what ... most of
the stuff that conflicts has no RATIONAL basis.

That is, science has reason, produced with
theories that are continually verified or corrected.
The problems with the Bible's consistancy can
only be ignored through faith.

Think of it this way: If a scientist is shown evidence
that his theory is incorrect, he analyzes the evidence
to verify whether or not it is accurate, and if it is,
he throws out his theory and tries again.

If a staunch Biblical believer is shown a problem, he
just says "we don't understand the word of God but
it is always right."

The latter, though inarguable, fails to be anything
other than cyclical logic. It is as credible as "You are
purely in my imagination."

I take it back: It is less credible. Occam's razor says
that given two theories (and equal evidence for each,
in this case, none), the simpler one tends to be
more likely.

Let me put it another way: If I found 51 inconsistancies,
does that make the Bible trash and should we ignore it?

This logic is the same as producing lists of Muslims that
have committed crimes with no context as an excuse for
blaming the Muslims. Until you produce the list in context
(in this case, a list of NON Muslims that committed crimes
during the same period), it has no meaning.

It has just about the same logic as all of the people babbling
about the signifigance of the number "23".

The Bible contains historical fact mixed with myth and folklore. Still doesn't prove God exists.

waiting... still waiting for the New Testament stuff.. annnnnnnd we do NOT have a winner..
I totally believe that there is archaeological evidence of the Jewish texts, as they lived in that region and it is a part of their history.. what you have failed to prove by this is ANYTHING at ALL to do with the New Testament.. the Dead Sea scrolls were still confirmations of the TaNaKh (Old Testament).. thank you, and please drive through.

Edit: nope, no historical evidence that Jesus EVER existed.. better do a fact check there, sweetie. Paul never met Jesus according to his own words (with the exception of a "vision").. so, again, where's the proof? If you're going to start the fire, be prepared to feed the flame ;)
Have a great night!

OMG, like, Im like totally convince of God's existence now! NOT!

the Gilgamesh epic proves that the story of Noah was copied from an ancient sumerian legand - not that the flood acutally happened. there is no evidence of a world wide flood. Unless your world was a total of 20 sq. miles....

there's proof, sure.

still doesn't prove it's validity, especially to me living in South Korea in 2007!!!

still doesn't make me want to "do" what it says - like i believe in the existence of evolution and gravity, but i sure as heck don't worship them!

Love and Light,
