I always hear stories of doing it and people saying that the meter maid tells them they will arrest them. There seems to be no ordinance declaring it illegal to feed other people's meters.

Sure it's legal. The only problem is it is illegal to feed the meter to extend the time. That's why meters are installed in the first place (and NOT as a money making idea of the municipality). The idea is to limit the parking in a given area so others may also have a chance to park!

You can help someone any time you want. Tell that meter maid to stick it. She might be trying to justify her job. I've heard of people helping pay for others and they never got arrested.

I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD THAT TO!! I WONDER WHY IT IS SAID TO BE ILLEGAL? AWESOME QUESTION!!!! THIS WAS A SKIT ON JACKASS LAST WEEK, THE METER MAID WAS THREATINING TO TICKET HIM FOR DOING IT. IT MIGHT BE A LAW IN JUST CERTAIN STATES, OR IT MIGHT BE ONE OF THOSE RULES THAT ARE SO OLD THEY DONT EVEN MAKE SENSE ANY MORE!! LIKE IN MY STATE IT IS STILL ON THE BOOKS THAT YOU CAN BEAT YOUR WIFE ON THE COURTHOUSE STAIRS. I AM SURE IF ANYONE TRIED THIS IT WOULD BE TESTED!!!! GOOD LUCK!

It's technically illegal but no one will arrest you. The meter enforcement officer will just tell you to stop doing it........
