I would like to purchase or make a chalkboard for my children's room. There are three boys who love to draw, so I'm thinking it needs to be around 4 feet by 8 feet to give everyone enough room.

Another option would be chalkboard paint for a section of the wall. You could paint one section of the wall and then frame it with some wood so that the children won't think that they can draw where ever, on whatever wall. The chalkboard paint works just as well as a board, but without taking up room space. It is available at most large home stores.

the chalkboard paint is a good idea, but instead of putting it directly on the wall, get a wooden board or two that makes the size you want, and paint that. then hang. it's easier to just take it down rather than paint again. cheaper than a chalkboard too!

I actually did this in my son's room when he was about 3. I just painted the chalkboard paint right onto his wall and then framed it with decorative molding. It was so simple, that even I, who am a severly artistically challenged person, could do it without help. He and all of his friends loved it and it was actually a huge selling point of the house when we sold it.

If you go to Home Depot/Lowe's/Menard's they have a paint that you cane roll on the wall. It is exactly like having a chalk board & you can make it fit the area/size that you want. You could also do designs like a car, trucg, big rig what ever you want. Let your imagination take over. You might even try some Arts/Crafts stores also for the paint.

i thought about a chalkboard for my daughter,,,i went with a dry erase board instead...its alot cleaner, meaning no dust.....plus there is a variety of colors, with the dry erase...they are cheap...with a chalkboard i would be afraid something would hit it and crack it......but what changed my mind was the cleaness of the dry erase.....
