Cough drops, the good ones, not the ones that are basiclly candy. Drink warm tea with honey. Oh, and obviously rest your voice. Hope this helps!

This works for me every time;

Gargle with 50/50 warm water-hydrogen peroxide...DON"T SWALLOW IT!!! it tastes terrible but within 2 hours I've got a voice again.

Seems that this loss of voice is related to a virus and the peroxide helps cut the infection in the throat. I learned this trick from my mom's boss...he swears by it and so do I.

Try not to talk if you can, rest your vocal chords... if you're coughing, try to not cough as hard... everything can add to the damage you may be doing.

Best thing to do is try not to talk, cough or sing.
