I think the Toy Poodle should have one! Who do you think and why?

I was really rooting for the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen ~ she was just an absolutely exemplary specimen of the breed. I can agree with you that the Toy Poodle was a very elegant little thing, but the PBGV just really sparkled in the ring; she owned it!

She was "personality plus," even barking at the handler when she wanted more of the treat!

The Toy Poodle was elegant and a striking specimen of the breed, but I would have liked to have seen some personality. With the PBGV, there was a perfect example of breed specimen *and* personality.

It's nothing but my opinion, but i have to say i do enjoy it when a dog in the ring has not been disciplined to the point that they have lost the qualities one associates with a dog. The poodles are beautiful things but they were originally bred to be sporting dogs; now even the standard size is shown in the non-sporting group .... they've been turned into poofy decorations rather than being allowed to be what they are ~ a sporting dog.

FOR VERMINATOR: I don't think either the Asker or any of the Answerers are presuming, in any way, that they are qualified to judge an AKC event ~ that would be ridiculous at best. It's just a question of *opinion*. Without question, James, the Best in Show was BEST in Show and I don't think anyone here has disputed that. One Answerer, an AKC conformation handler and breeder, who apparently IS qualified to judge, NICELY explained why the winner won ~ not that that was part of the question, but she willingly and politely provided useful information.

The rest of us are just expressing our opinions in a fun, sort of 'pretend situation' way. Each of the dogs in the Best of Show event were Best of Breed, right? Therefore, it stands to reason, that any of them could have been worthy of the honor of Best in Show. James, the springer, however was *the* best of the best. It just happens that it's my meager and unimportant *opinion* that he didn't show any personality ... but that isn't what the judge was there to judge, was it? He was there to judge the best representative of its breed and, accordingly, James won.

Have you considered anger management classes? Perhaps some counseling to get to the bottom of whatever it is that makes you so toxic? Get some help, please ... the rest of us are just having a little fun. It doesn't matter what we think.

ugg the toy poodle... of all the dogs in the line up for best in show that was the one that should not win... she was not the best rep of the group... if i had to pick the best I would have said the PBGV. She was the best I think... the spaniel was like a robot he had no personality of his own, perfect in conformation, beautiful but i dont think he was as a gun dog should be. To robotic.
My personal favorite was the Cardigan Welsh Corgi but thats becuase i have 2 and I show them, but I am not a judge of that caliber and have to go with what the judge picked.

Verminator - for information wise, I have been priviledged to help out in Judging of dogs in my Club. I also have a very close friend that is a dog show judge and has been for years, Too boot the Flat Coat Retriever that was in the ring was another of my friends personally bred pup. I think I am a fair JUDGE of dog breeds. Yes most agree that the Judge picked the best dog, you need to tone down and turn your caps off, cause if you are accusing people here of judging anything then you are the biggest CULPRIT by JUDGING us and i dont see a licences or any credentials to say you have the right to judge anyones opinion.

I was all about that Toy. I usually favor the German Shepherd Dog no matter what, but there was just something about that little Toy Poodle... I don't even like little dogs!

I was happy for the springer, though. First time ever at Westminster for that group. That was pretty cool.

James definitely deserved BIS, but I would have LOVED to see Fairchild the PBGV take the top honor. I am bringing home a show pup PBGV this summer and am in love with this fun little breed. Fairchild did show much more of his breed's personality and character more than the others, which is a fantastic trait to portray in the ring.
James obviously was the best specimen of his breed that night, which is why he won.

That is such a hard decision, there were alot that looked good.
I personally did not care for the 2 poodles that were in the finals, I just don't like the way they cut their fur.

In my opinion I thought the Springer was a beautiful representation of the breed and was the best choice. The Bouvier was also beautiful.

Since YOU or anybody else here was *NOT* IN THE RING,judging & doubtless know NOTHING about the BREED STANDARDS for ANY of the dogs in that ring,on that night....the question makes NO SENSE!

*****NOT***** a "popularity contest"!
NOT which animal was "cutest"-whatever that's supposed to mean.

WHICH animal -that night, under that judge, came closest to being the PERFECT speciman OF THAT BREED as described by it's BREED STANDARD!
