There's nothing wrong with that at all. Community showers are very common, especially in older buildings. Many college dorms are still like that too.
Everybody has a body, and the same basic parts. Why do people feel so embarrased about it that they need to hide from others? That seems like the real issue. By putting up curtains and dividers like that, you are teaching kids that they should be ashamed of their bodies and that is flat out wrong.

My middle school and high school both had showers - they were quite old, basically the shower heads at the top of a pole in a circle, so there's zero privacy. But, they weren't ever used for PE classes. Kids changed but that was about it. The showers were unused and the teachers never told students to use them (I'm assuming that if any students actually wanted too, they could, but it just never really happened). In fact the showers sort of become the lost and found for the gym department, by the end of the year they were filled with old, sweaty clothes. There was a seperate locker room for the football team, I'm pretty sure they used those showers. Really though, people just weren't interested in taking showers at school. PE uniforms weren't even really enforced, you just couldn't wear jeans or things like that. Girls didn't want to mess up their makeup and hair. People didn't smell bad or anything either. It's called deodorant, and it's definitely not unhygenic to run a couple laps and not take a shower right afterwards, that's the most workout most people ever got in PE.

Well there is not enough time for private showers, I wouldn't want to go around stinking the rest of the day, and as long as they are divided by girls and boys, and the showers are supervised, there shouldn't be a problem with it. But I can understand the kids being self concious, Middle School kids are vicious to each other and if someone's body is even slightly imperfect, they could be made fun of. But if every kid took a private shower, it would take a LONG time to get through them all, and probably some of them at the end of the line wouldn't be able to get in the shower within enough time..

personally, i think that public shower is necessary in public school because kids should maintain their hygiene, especially after PE class. However, I also think that public showers without curtain and divider are not appropriate base on the fact that many students consider it comfortable to bath before others, which discourage them to use the shower, leading to health problem in schools..

No. Back in the day my friends and I use to hold up beach towels as curtains so we could shower. The girls showers had the walls but no curtain.

I'm not crazy about the idea, but that's the way it is. It seems our Educational Budget simply does not allow for the nicety of privacy, which is a shame

Absolutely not. Kids at that age are very curious and it could lead to some unseemly behavior.
