im 22, when i was 16 i started getting depressed and for the next 4 years it got worse and worse, and finally to a point where it was debilitating. Then one day it went away. For two years i thought i finally beat it with out drugs or therapy. Recently I've been really stressed and have felt the warning signs coming back. My problem lies in that im too proud to ask for help, too against drugs to take anything for it, and too manly to pour my heart out to anyone. I really don't like the idea of just opening up cause i don't want to sound like i'm whining, i can't stand people who whine. I can't talk to my family about it, we don't have that kind of relationship. And recently i've pushed everyone so far away no one's left. So what do i do? I don't want to go through depression again, its the worst thing in the world to have to tackle on your own. I guess i'm really just asking one of you to convince me to do something outside of my comfort zone. Any shrinks out there?? thanks.

You are certainly opening up here|

There is a herbal anti-depressant known as St. John's Wort|

It has few side effects, unlike those terrible chemicals that they perscribe, it works within an hour (not three weeks like the chemicals), is more effective than the chemicals, and a two month's supply is about $12|

You should be able to get it at any drug store in the suppliments section|

You are doing a lot of wrong things if you don't want to go through depression again, and you know it, don't you. You are pushing people away, refusing to consider your options, and not taking action to help yourself.
I expect that your depression is due at least partly to brain chemistry.
You need to see somebody professional about this; your family and friends will not be able to eliminate your depression. But you still need human contact.
Also, get some sunshine, exercise, and take some vitamins.

you may have depression linked to a chemical imbalance ... in that case you would need to get back on the serotonin uptake inhibitors . talk to your physician and at least that way it'll be some help you until you can get therapy.
