I've had a crush for as little as a week, and as long as two years, and everywhere in between.

Depends on the situation.
He could see a girl he likes better, think that you don't like him, think he doesn't have a chance and should just give up or pluck up the courage to ask you out.
Long story short, it could take awhile.
