Is anything in Ilford open 24 hours?

2007-02-15 11:12:52 · answer #1 · answered by apache_ah64d 1 · 1 0

24 hour opening only allows for the provision of all day opening. It does not mean that they can or have to stay open 24 hrs. Pubs are still restricted to local authority licensing laws. However a pub may request a special license that will allow them to stay open longer.

Pubs can apply for extended licences, but that's not to say that they will get one. Local residents have the right to object.
24hr drinking is a phrase made up by opponents of the new rules to discredit them. There was never any intention to release pubs to open 24 hours, only to make the opening hours more flexible.

not in norfolk either! pubs applied for 24hr licences but not every pub was granted it. even the ones that did get the licence arent open 24hrs, guess staffing costs arent worth it compared with how many people they would get in.... it is good tho for partys and big events as there isnt such a hassle trying to get everyone to drink up and leave so no hassle off of the police (if you havnt guessed i work in a pub) would be cool if some were open tho that way people who do anti social shifts like me would also get time to go out more often

It is all to do with the opening hours that each building applied for on it's premises licence. Basically you determine what hours you want to conduct licensable activities, such as sale of alcahol by retail, send this off to the new licensing authority and if they approve it, job done. All comes down to choice of the owner of the building or DPS or brewery which ever has the say!
