Well, yes, my question says it all, really. It's keeping her boyfriend up at night! Help!
PS please don't say hypnotherapy, she is a poor student!

she's apparently done it since she was small. And therefore claims it's not a stress thing.

I know a lass called Sarah who does that, she now has baby teeth like pebbles and she says it's a habbit, i'd think chewing gum might help or something, erm I dunno!

Most grinding is caused by stress Even when your 3, grinding teeth causes pain in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles and over time will cause damage to the teeth.
Your friend can be provided with an upper night guard, an appliance worn at night which acts as a shock absorber during grinding. It will prevent further damage to the teeth as she will be grinding through acrylic rather then her teeth and is very effective at breaking grinding habits.
She needs an appointment at her Dental Surgery where they will take an impression of her upper and lower teeth and send these to a Dental Lab to make up a guard. Hope this helps good luck!

I grind my teeth in my sleep apparently. The dentist fitted me with a gum shield (looks a bit like the thing boxers wear when they are fighting) but I accidentally left it abroad when I went on holiday. Cost 50 pounds for a replacement so I never bothered to get it!

my partner can sympathise with him as i do it too! i also have done it from childhood and can confirm it is mainly due to stress and anxiety, even if you think it's not, it is, it's the sub-conscious mind. I've had several shield in the past but they're not really suitable for me as the problem is then it sounds squeaky or i take it out during my sleep! my partner now use ear plugs so he can have a peaceful nights sleep. so no cure I'm afraid!

Get a Nightguard or similar protector for teeth. I wear mine only a night but some people wear them most of the time. Otherwise you will ruin your teeth over time.

.I used to do this when i was a child. It was caused by a blockage in the nose, and after it was fixed no more grinding.
Hope that helps.
Good luck

It's probably habit. A gumsheld will help her teeth from being damaged and will reduce the noise.
