I think herbal medicines can be very effective because they aim at fixing whats causing a problem, not just ridding the body of the problem. you know what i mean? plus, you dodge the risks of a lot of side effects. they do take longer to work, but i think that in the end its worth it. ... but don't self diagnose. you never know if your treating the right thing or not.

The effectiveness varies enormously depending on the exact herbal medicine in question. Research studies have been done on many of them that answer the question of whether they work or not. Google the name of the medicine in question +"studies" to find out if the medicine has been tested or proven to work.
In general I think most of them don't work except as placebos. However have shown some actual benefit in studies, echinacea for example, and cranberries for UTIs.

Herbal medicine can be very effective.
As a Master Herbalist I need to tell you to take precautions
with herbs if you are on Western medicine..Rx med. from your Physician.
If you are interested in understanding more about this subject there are many great books out there on the topic.

I believe they work and use them quite often. However you need to know exactly what you have and what herbs heals what ailment. I would still seek the advice of a doctor. Do not rely on herbal medicine if you are pregnant.

It depends on what you're using it for. Many herbal medicines for alergies takes months or even years to come into effect because they mainly target your cells to not react. If it was for a disease, probably a couple of days to weeks.

herbal medicines cannot be trusted always, but fresh herbs when used for curing is more effective than herbal medicines.
