He puts his feet in the water dish but it is to small for him to fit all the way in to clean his self thoroughly.

I let my parrot take a shower with me. Sounds weird but it works..
I first let the bird watch the whole shower routine then I let him sit on my wrist with my wrist covered with a washcloth in case of claws and then I would move him into a water a little bit. The water needs to be luke warm. He likes to hold his head down and spead his wings and let the water run over him. When he was done I put him on the top of the cage to dry. He was a little scared at first but then really liked it. I got the advice from a parrot book. Best of luck.

Depending on what kind of parrot. For smaller birds get a small portable perch and put it in your sink, let him perch while you spray him with the kitchen faucet sprayer. For larger birds you can do the same in the shower if you have a hand sprayer in your shower. You can also buy a shower perch that suction cups to the wall of your shower and folds out. Parrots should be completely soaked down at least once a week (maybe more if you have a cockatoo) Use luke warm water in the winter and cool water in the summer. Between soakings, you can use a plant mister to spray them down. Some birds will bathe themselves in their water bowl by dunking their head and flinging the water onto their body.

Take a salad bowl a big one that is flat at the bottom or a pie dish and place a mirror in side with water in it then set it with a towel under put your parrot next to it and allow him to go in he /she will get curious and want to drink it or w/e the mirror helps make them think there is another bird in there "territory" so good luck :)

Get a bigger water dish. He wants to have a bath, give him the room to do so.

I put mine in a sink of warm water and splash the water with my fingers so that the bird will get curious and try it. Sometimes, they will follow the flock leader which is now you. Act happy and really enthusiastic. This really works

I use the handheld sprayer on the kitchen sink. I tried using a dog bowel (its a little quaker parrot) but he prefers to be sprayed than to bathe himself.

I mist mine with a garden hose and the nozzle set on mist - soak him down - he preens for half an hour and is clean as a whistle - and doesn't smell like gym socks for another week or so

put a towel in the bottom of the shower so the bird doesn't slip around. put the spray on and watch the fun.
birds love to shower. make it a part of his daily schedule. he will sooooooooooo look forward to his shower time!!! when he knows it's time he will carry on till you take him in the bathroom. after a while you can let him out of the cage and he will automatically go to the bathroom and jump in the shower!!!

i fill a spray bottle with luke warm water, stand back a little way,and spray a fine mist on my parrots. my vet told me only to do thisin the daytime,as they can catch cold very easily if you do it at night. never let them go to sleep while they are still damp.

We put ours right in the shower and let him waddle around. He LOVES it. He will start to preen right there in the bathtub. When he is done we blow him dry while he sits on my husbands shoulder. It is too funny. Just make sure the water and air from the blowdryer are not too warm. Oh, and make sure to get it on video, it is very funny!
