He wants to do injections. I was wondering if anyone else has facet arthritis or knows of any other effective treatment options? Besides meds. I'm not interested in using pain meds.

The facet is actually a small joint on the spine. It is the bone that looks kind of like little wings. The facet joint is one of the few bones in the body that actually have nerve ending associated with them.
The injections are a steroid medication and is usually a set of three spaced about two weeks apart. Some people respond very well to them, some aren't quite as lucky. There are several other procedures available. One is referred to as denervation. It is using a radio frequency to kill the nerve endings in the facet joint.
It is no biggie, I have had it donee several times. Work with your doc, ask a lot of questions, what else is there, is it inasive, does it hurt, does it have to be repeated, are there other alternatives. Arthritis does not mean an end to life as you knew it, just a few small changes and you will be good as new, or at least slightly used. Good Luck.

Joint pain due to arthritis can be reduced and cured by making small changes in your diet and lifestyle. Many of the remedies are inexpensive and do not have side effects like allopathic medicines. Check this out for natural, home remedies for arthritis http://aches.in/naturalcuresarthritis.ht...

He may or may not be correct - There is a book that teaches about muscles, pain and referred pain anywhere in the body. The principle is that the muscles get knots called trigger points which make the muscles tight that then press on nerves. It teaches how to get them to release which gets rid of the pain.
The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
I also use a chiropractor and massage therapist as needed.

dont do it, get four opinions!!! They want to shoot you full of steriods, you will gain between twenty and forty pounds of weight with each shot, you will get a red face, you will sweat on your face non stop for three weeks, you will be in a horrible mood, you will feel rage over nothing, you wont be able to sleep and will have a hunger like you have never felt before, you will see tunnel vision on one side of your eyes, you will get a rash, you will get headaches and the worst part of it???? it may only cure the problem for two weeks, it costs your insurance about fifteen thousand dollars... I say try everything else you can think of, tens units, reflexology, accupressure, accupunture, traction, stretching, physical therapy, bio feed back, hypnosis and homeopathic medications. do not, I repeat not do those shots, they can cause brain tumors and dont just beleive me, look them up on the internet,,,, there are lots of meds for helping with arthritis, dont do that junk, that is how that one famous guy died.... Drs dont have any reason to get you better, it is only going to pay to keep you sick or injured or on medications...

you are smart to hesitate...

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, 2005 it was the knees, 2006 the wrists, and now it is moving into my low back. At least now I know the name of the area.

Sooner or later you may need simple ibuprofen or Excedrin.

Google it like I did and learn what you need to know.
