Christians etc often claim this. But the only reason they give is that the bilble says it is wrong. Is the only reason therefore that gay people disobey the bible? That is an inadequate answer.
Why is being gay ruining society (eg causing pain to others, creating poverty, causing violence etc).
Is it because having less people in society that follow Christianity (etc) is ruining society?
I can understand the statement that drugs are ruining society. Because, for example, long term, they arguably create pain and unhappyness and stop people living to their full potential. But what about being and living a life where you are gay? How does that ruin society in this way?

I am a Christian. I have never said that gays are ruining our society, please do not generalize.
I would agree with the statement that SIN is ruining our society.
If you want to know the harm and pain caused by homosexuality, go to wikipedia and type in "rectal cancer."

Their logic runs backwards, their always talking at you "from the angle". They can't be trusted financially or in the workplace.
