That about sums it up. The OT god was the personal god of the Jewish tribes and no others. The Jewish tribes predicted a Jewish messiah which the NT god provided in the form of a Jew who had a group of Jewish followers who wrote about him. The end.

Ancient Israel was the blessed people of God, as was evidenced by the presence of his Holy Spirit in the Most Holy of the Temple, along with the Ark of the Covenant. Only the Most High Priests could enter the Most Holy, and than only on their knees, as they had to crawl under the Great Curtain of woven gold that completely covered the Most Holy. They had to do this while carrying the ashes of the Sacrificial Lamb.
There was no entrance through the curtain. For anyone else to enter or even see into the Most Holy, even a lower level Priest, would have meant instant death. The only times when other could see the Ark of the Covenant, was when Israel lost favor with God and was allowed to be conquered for a time, such as by Babylon.
When Christ died, that Great Curtain tore open to show that Israel no longer had the blessings of God, as his Holy Spirit no longer resided there and did not until the Temple was competely destroyed later. It was so thoroughly destroyed that if a stone was laying upon another stone, a solder bent over and moved it, just as Christ had prophesied. Why they would be so thorough was because the Temple was burned, causing that Curtain of Gold to melt and run down through the spaces between the stones of the foundation. Caesar ordered the Army to scape it off every rock and bring the gold back to Rome. That gold may not be a part of that wedding ring you're wearing.
No, Israel no longer has the blessing fo God. Christians had it for a while until they fell away, beginning in the time of the Apostle Paul, when he expressed disappointment that they were backsliding into man made holidays and observances.
The question now is who is the symbolic Israel or New Israelites, who make up the Bridal Class of Christ? What small group has emerged from the Christians, just as Israel had emerged from the world in general, and Christians had emerged from the Israelites?

God chose the Jews, the Jews did not choose God.
God has reveled Himself to other people that have not chosen Him. I am ordering a video about 5 modern day Muslims that Jesus has shown Him self to (and now they are Christians).
Also I read a book awhile ago about Samuel Morris. He was a young African living in Liberia. He had never heard of the Bible or its God (I do not know if he had even saw a white man). Any way he was caught by a nearby village and was being tortured to death, when a bright light appeared, his ropes fell off, he regained strenght, a voice told him to run and he got away. Only later did he learn that it was God and then he got a person relation with him.

cloe, I am loving your questions! Finally! someone who understands this problem!
There is no way that the God of the TaNaKh (old testament) is the same God written about in the christian new testament.
First of all, the one most sacred text to a jew" Hear oh Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is ONE." There is no trinity in Judaism.
Secondly, no Jew would EVER state that the Torah is to be done away with.. nope, not EVER.
In the Torah, it specifically states that this is an EVERLASTING covenant throughout ALL their generations.
Jesus (if he actually existed) did not fulfill the messianic prophecies of the TaNaKh.
The Jewish people don't believe that there is an eternal hell either. They also don't require a conversion for you to enter "heaven".
It's amazing how much of a difference there is.
As for them "rejecting Jesus", what they have done is in accordance with their God's law... if he claims to be the messiah and does not fulfill all of the prophecies, he is to be rejected.. he didn't and he was.. good for them.

Correct - And because of their forgetting God they have been made an example. God specifically said He would curse those who curse them, and He would bless those who bless them. God calls the Jewish people the apple of His eye. God also said He would not let them ever be totally destroyed that He would always save a remnant of Israel. And eventually, we Gentiles would go to the Jew and ask them to show us Jerusalem and tell us about their God. God said in the latter days He would bring them back to His land and never again would they be made ashamed. God said He would gather all nations against them, they would become a cup of trembling but when they saw the abomination of desolation in the temple to flee to the hills. Before that 2 witnesses will stand in Jerusalem until the temple is built and if anyone tries to stop them they will spew fire out of their mouth and kill them.
The One and Only True God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity, but One God.

i hate to break it to you but your western religions are intertwined; all three of em are the same. the major wars occured between people of practically the same religion. You actually worship the same god as the jews and muslims. Direct same god, no one who is knowledgable about the religions will deny that. you only disagree about who is the son of god, that's why the spanish inquisition tried to make people accept jesus christ as thier lord and savior, and that remains a saying of the christians. You all use the same old testament stories, Adam and Eve, Noah, everything from the old testament. Christians made the new testament about jesus and then muslims came later adding more on and saying mohammed was another prophet like jesus, christians didn't accept muhammed just as jews didn't accept jesus or muhammed. But still it's the same god and back story.
as opposed to buddhists, greek gods or viking lore that are completely different stories from the judeo christian heritage. .

All the surrounding cultures of the time had individual national gods during Biblical days. There were constant battles to determine who had the most powerful God, but the Israelites were the only ones to have a God that no one could see. We learned from the Hebrew God that we should never make humans into Gods (pharoahs) and that we should never sacrifice humans. God allowed the Israelites to continue sacrifices as other nations were doing, and He taught the Israelites that our leaders should be held accountable to his followers, just as the serfs and slaves must be given certain inalienable rights. No other culture granted rights to slaves -- it was the Israelites who learned from God that all humanity, as well as work animals, were entitled to a day of rest. We also learned that servants are to be treated as part of the family and must be freed after seven years with enough resources to support themselves. No other god of any culture had ever demanded these rights.
The Tanach (old testament) is about the relationship between God and His people, Israel. There is no eternal punishment from the Hebrew God and all the righteous of the nations have a share in the world to come.

No.
No, God had them not the other way around.
God chose Abraham to start a new group of people. Then God chose Moses to make them Jews. God did not choose the Jews, He made people into Jews. But God is still God. Don't get hung up on the Jews-they rejected God, thats why God then chose the Gentiles. A Gentile is anyone who is not a Jew. That includes Arabs, Chinese, Watusi's, Africans, Honky's everybody else.

The jews are Gods chosen people, when Christ died it opened the door for everyone. It is not a matter of having the right GOD since we know that GOD is the only one true GOD he is the GOD of everyone. I do not know why GOD chose the jews but it is probably a good choice due to the fact that they have been around a lot longer as a community.
