My husband,myself..AND our dog..(mainly the dog) had been eating out of a peanut butter jar, that we found out today had the code 2111 on it. I'm mainly concerned about the dog. He is about 15lbs, a pug, and he eats LOTS of peanut butter. Will he be sick from it? We've had the jar almost 3 months or so now,,,,

Symptoms of salmonella show up from 12-72 hours after ingesting tainted food. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, flu like symptoms. From what I've read dogs tend to be resistant to salmonella. If you haven't shown symptoms in the time frame mentioned I wouldn't worry too much and would just take it back to the store where you got it.

Yes! Thanks for reminding me to look! I had the big a** jar of the Great Value and only 1/4 of it is gone. Don't sure if it made us sick. We're a family of 6 and someone always has a stomach ache. We're not old or plague by illness, generally healthy people so a little salmonella isn't going to do anything but give us some flu like symptoms this time of the year. I think about the main thing I made was Scotcharoos and the peanut butter would have been heated to a boiling point. And to Nickname above me: all about the lawsuit, huh? Sorry, chump you have no damages and no leg to stand on, so to speak. Grow up and get a job! But I am tossing this jar, who has time to be sick. But remain calm, unless you are high risk salmonella won't kill ya!

Peter Pan peanut butter has issued a recall, and hundreds of people, including those right here in New York, have been infected with salmonella. The FDA said the peanut butter is likely the cause.

If you have this brand of peanut butter at home, check the product code number on the lid of the jar; the product code number on the affected jars starts with 2111.

Peter Pan peanut butter has issued a recall, and hundreds of people, including those right here in New York, have been infected with salmonella. The FDA said the peanut butter is likely the cause.

So far, about 300 people have become infected. Some of them have had to be hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.

ConAgra will refund consumers who purchased Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter. Save the product lid and send it to ConAgra along with your name and mailing address.

I found 4 jars of the 2111 peanut butter (they were on sale) we had opened 2 and I had eaten quite a bit out of the chunky one. I have had the "runs" so I went on the Web to check treatment and symptoms. It didn't specifically have anything on the sites I checked about dogs, but you could search for that. I tried calling the telephone # given in the news release, it's been busy, busy. If I get fever, I'll see my doctor. Call your vet about your dog, especially if he gets loose bowels, or acts listless. Make certain he has plenty of water.
NO MORE peanut butter for the little guy, at least until you see what happens. I think you should know in about 2 or 3 weeks if he's OK. The Vet should be your final check point.

Well the hot line number is misleading. It makes it sound like if you have questions you can actually ASK someone there and they will help you. It's a damn recording telling you to send them your lid. Personally I think this is B.S. I have to PAY to send a LID so they can give me back my $4 minus the $2 it took for me to send to them - not counting the $10 co-pay per child to the doctors office last week for fevers of 105, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches that we couldn't explain!? Minus the $25 in medication (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Emitrol, Pedialite and Immodium) to help the kids get over this mystery illness that the doctor had assumed was the flu but wasn't real sure since their symptoms would leave and return repeatedly for the past MONTH! I am so pissed about this. Thing is, my kids love peanut butter. So they take a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich to school 5 days a week. I was repeatedly poisoning them and not even realizing it. My husband become ill for two days with vomiting, and diarrhea. I never got sick - I hate peanut butter. Grrr... so I am out roughly $50 over this damn peanut butter crap minus the 7 days each child missed of school and the wonderful note from the ISD telling me if they miss 3 more days in the six weeks period they are required by law to report me to the authorities for truancy. How lovely of ConAgra to be availble for my troubles which go MUCH further than, "Oops, I ate a sandwhich or two out of that jar .. I got slightly sick .. now what?". My daughter had a fever of 105.3 for FOUR DAYS because of this sh!t. You can bet I expect a bit more than a $4 check that doesn't even begin to cover my expenses. On top of it all, my son is having to spend his week doing DOUBLE the homework to catch up on the work he fell behind on while out sick for 7 days in a row (because the Dr. said "well the flu is going around, and I don't think a culture is necessary .. so just keep them hydrated and you will be ok - oh and no school till that fever goes away." GRRRRRRR).

Keep an eye on your dog (and yourself/husband). I don't think he could get salmonella because dogs are notorious for eating raw meat (if they get they paws on any that is) and I've never heard of a dog getting salmonella because of it, but there's always a first.

I'd still contact the company and they should information about the salmonella.

Keep the jar as evidence. It may be needed to trace back any salmonella if someone gets sick.

There is a possibility that your dog can get sick so your best bet is to take him to the vet as soon as possible its better to be safe then sorry.

Yeah I think they found that there was a problem with one of the pistons on the right and back side of the cylinder head. They should be able to fix it pretty quickly but they'll have to lose a lot of grease.
