It reallu depends. If you did what they accussed you of doing then you need to decide if being truthful is to your benefit or not. Cooperative suspects who acknowledge what they did and are remorseful get better consideration from the courts then some jag asz who says wasn't me you go the wrong guy.
But hey if you're a criminal and you got the turds on someone doing something worth investigating, then turn on them and give them up. You'll probably be able to walk away from your charges as long as they are victimless.
Otherwise hope you have a large amount of money to hire an attorney. There is a reason that cops call the public defenders the "public pretenders". You get what you pay for...if its free..you gotta wonder why.

answer the questions after all, if you are innocent you have nothing to worry about if you are guilty then ask for an attorney, although you should talk so you do not waste the time of the investigators

Ask for a Lawyer & one will be appointed to your case (you). Also known as the "Public Defender"! The Police will have the District Attorney (D.A.) representing them in their case.

Ask for a lawyer.... and keep your mouth shut! Cops can lie to get you to say anything... its true! They are NOT accountable for what they say or do in ana investigation, whereas- YOU ARE!

Ask for your attorney and don't answer any questions! You may think you understand your rights...you don't! Tell them you don't. Tell them you need your attorney to help you.
