An allergic reaction, a stroke, epilepsy in general, the heat, or getting too excited too quick. Take your dog to the vet and discuss this, it may need anticonvulsants. My hubby-to-be's last dog had seizures and there was no known reason as to thr "why," just like with a lot of us humans.

They think epilepsy seizures are caused by the 2 halves of the brain having a breakdown in communication. Seizures can be caused by poisoning so check that there is nothing in your garden your dog could be snacking on. Some breeds of dog can inheirite epilepsy such as dobermans or poodles. Get your dog diagnosed by the vet and they can prescribe medication. If the seizures are only happening about once a year and are only mild then i wouldnt worry. But if they are more frequent and you are worried the dog may hurt himself i would medicate him. The last doberman i owned had epilepsy and the seizures were about 2 a month and violent so i had him medicated. He still lived to be an old dog at 10 years so dont worry.

I don't think it was right to have your dog killed because she was having seizures; I only believe in euthanasia in very extreme cases. But I'll assume it was an extreme case and move on. Anyway, no, it doesn't cause seizures. It does /sometimes/. Definitely not always. The dog's size also comes into account. It's a case-by-case thing, and not worth the risk. The really dangerous thing is the fact that your dog could get addicted to chocolate and get into baking chocolate, which is REEEEALLY bad. Different kinds of chocolate are more harmful than others.

Chemical imbalance of the brain causes seizures. You personally cannot do nothing. Only a vet can help with meds, and his advice. It is a different thing with various dogs.
The same applies to human beings. See a family doctor.

Seizures are not normal for any dog.
Your dog might have been poisoned, or he might have epilepsy, or some other neurological condition. Have your dog examined by a vet and get a better answer from someone who is trained to evaluate and answer a question like this.

Most dogs with high adrenaline rushes will result in seizures due to over excitement. However if the dog is having them without hyper activity it may be due to brain truama or poison. Either way I would consult with your vet.
