Going back in time would have the greatest impact on all our lives.... don't we all wish we could at some time or other ?
We could right so many wrongs ... not just the mistakes we've personally made but :
Like prevent the assassinations of people like Dr. Martin Luther King & Robert Kennedy.
Preventing 9/11 from ever happening.
And so on.
Yes. Going back in time would help me make today (my real world) a better, less painful place.

One thing missing in your question is whether we could come back from whichever direction we headed.
We'd have very little context for making sense of what may lie in the future, especially if we were to jump forward much more than 10 years or so.
I think I'd rather go back in time to see what things were like. Even if I couldn't influence anything or make money off the knowledge, it would be incredibly cool to see Rome at the height of its glory, watch the Normans invade England, see NYC in 1680, or wander through St. Louis in 1904.

If I could go to the past I would change a few things I did wrong... If I could go to the future I would like to see myself in 10 years and check how good or bad my life is. Man, I wish I could do this! lol Adios!

I would go back to Dallas...22nd November 1963...set up observation posts on Deeley Plaza and try to find out once and for all who killed President Kennedy...so his family would finally know...
