This just happened around lunch time today. I was driving and I thought the heater was really heating up my leg, however, I am not in the car anymore and the outer part of my calf is on fire and aching. It is kinda scaring me. I've been back and forth to the doctor about my current health problems...which are being tracked down, hopefully coming to a diagnosis. So I am used to weird things going on in my body, just not this one.... Any suggestions on what to do or why this is happening. It couldn't be a dvt, could it?

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Consult a doctor if it persists. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

That was my first thought. DVT sometimes has a nodule, even with a hard pulsing cord running from it (the clogged vein) that can be felt. A red tender lump in the calf would be a sure sign to get it checked right away. As would a cold or purple foot.

Eat a couple bananas, run your hand down the muscles you will find spots that are tender - these are trigger points - rub lenghtwise on them 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day.
There is a book that teaches about muscles, pain and referred pain anywhere in the body. The principle is that the muscles get knots called trigger points which make the muscles tight that then press on nerves. It teaches how to get them to release which gets rid of the pain.
The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
I also use a chiropractor and massage therapist as needed.

I got this after I tore the ligaments in my ankle; I too was worried about DVT. There was no swelling though, and the doctor thought it was just some strange part of the healing process.
If you have any redness and swelling I'd get it checked out; otherwise it's probably muscular and nothing to worry about.
