i have just started taking Lamiictal for my Bipolar II depresiion. i am on my second day and it seems like it is just making me worse. is this side effects from the meds or does it take a while for the meds to get into your blood stream? can the side effects be immediate? side effects [ie. restlessness, joint pain, insomnia, worsen depression, anxiety]

I would recommend that you call the doctor immediately. If it is causing you anxiety and joint pain and things along those lines, stop taking it and call immediately. Let him/her know these side effects and that you have stopped taking it because these were onset after only two days. They should be able to start you on something else immediately. I didn't have this problem with Lamictal, and it works well for me, but I had this problem with Lithium once...I got to take one capsule, and then I had to be rushed to the emergency room, because after the one capsule, I already had toxic levels in my blood. Don't freak out, because Lamictal isn't toxic like Lithium, but you do need to let your doctor know as soon as possible.

I HAD BAD LUCK TWICE WHILE TAKING IT , I RECOMMEND CALLING THE DOCTOR UP AND GET THE MEDICATION CHANGED ..SO YOU ARE NOT ALONE , CAUSE IT MADE ME THE SAME WAY , ALSO, BE CAREFUL IT CAN CAUSE A LIFE THREATENING RASH , CALLED "STEVEN -JOHNSON'S SYNDROME"
