i think its funny that only girls have anwsered this, but let me tell you the real anwser.
It is true, he could mean exactly that, but there is no way to judge this without knowing the context. If he calls you sweet just because, its either because he doesnt know what else to say or because hes trying to make you happy. think about it, you have to DO something sweet to be called sweet. Like i said it depends on the context and how well you know each other and stuff like that. Im not suggesting that there is normally a hidden agenda with what guys say, but there is ALWAYS a reason they say a certain thing and girls tend to take these reasons wrong. Chances are you did something nice, and he thought it was nice, but if it was for no reason then there is more to it.

the guy means something thats different from any other guy saying someone is sweet. some guys use sweet to say they are not interested without actually saying it. some guys say it because they like you. you cant just take a word one guy says and apply it the same way as if another guy used that word.
